A Case of Pelvic Actinomycosis Associated with Intrauterine Contraceptive Device

Abstract
Pelvic actinomycosis is thought to be one of the rare disease confronting the gynecologist. It causes a chronic granulomatous, suppurative disease and usually involves abdominal (63%), cervicofacial (24%), thoracic (11%) in orders. Many recent
reports
have been shown increased risk of pelvic actinomycosis related to IUD use. It is insiduous in onset and clinically indistinguishabel from other pelvic inflammatory disease, the diagnosis is usually difficult and delayed.
We experienced a case of tubo-ovarian abscess caused by actinomycosis associated with IUD use and report with brief review of literature.
